Songplayer is a simple but effective method of leaning a popular song in a new and intuitive way. The two most fundamental aspects of music performance and rehearsal are "timing" and "tuning" and Songplayer provides a learning environment which helps the user to improve and develop both of these.
Songplayer has two key learning tools:
1 - The Chords
In the chord sheet, the user is shown how to finger the notes on guitar. Each chord can be viewed in detail for guitar and keyboard and individual notes can be played. Each chord diagram can be increased in size simply by clicking with the left mouse. The larger diagrams also allow the user to listen to the chord being played, either as a "strummed" chord or "arpeggio".

The keyboard chords can also be viewed as shown below, and here again, the individual notes of the chord can be played.

2 - The Bar Chart
Once you have mastered the chords the next stage of learning is to play along with a version of the song, which has already been prepared in the form of a MIDI file. This is accompanied with a "scrolling bar chart" shown below. The eight squares across the page represent eight "beats" of the song, which in most cases will be two "bars". The grey box shown below on beat 2, moves in time with the music, so that you can follow the sequence of chords and play in time.

The song sections are shown in different colours along the bottom just above the transport bar (play, stop etc) and can be selected in any order, and looped if necessary.
To get started simply click the download button and install the songplayer software. You don't need to register and you get a free song to try.
